In the year 2053…
Global Warming began to take a toll across the earth. The evidence was obvious that it had been slowly debilitating the planet, yet no nation cared. Until mass civil uprisings began to spring up all across the globe in every major world superpower due to the decreasing availability of common necessities, the massive decline of the agricultural industry, a rise in wildfires, floods, hurricanes, etc. The uprisings were generally about more than just the climate issue, poverty and unemployment had skyrocketed along with huge amounts of displacement due to the rise in natural disasters. Soon, civil war broke out all across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, leading to the downfall of the TSA, UEA, and RU Federal governments. Reducing them to shambled of military personnel and state officials. The revolutionaries across the globe chose to join forces with one another and create a one-world government in the hopes of reversing the damage done by the people in power prior. Several years after the Global Revolution, in the year 2058 scientists have spent a long 5 years drafting up theories and ideas on how to quickly rejuvenate the world. The world government created, called the Fallen Earth Syndicate (FES), had been trying to create a huge amount of federal jobs in an attempt to stabilize the economy. These jobs could vary from industrial, factory, police, health, or research. Eventually scientists and engineers drafted up the theory of what they called an “organic technological revolution”, something that would absolutely revolutionize the technological front and the way of living forever. The theory was that organic beings, such as humans, were the “ultimate self sustaining machine”. But unlike humans, if infused with technology could be kept alive forever. They were self healing, required the same source of sustenance as humans, and possibly could even be implemented into the environment around them
The FES liked the idea, and poured as much funding as they could into the project 2060, FES funded state owned biological research institutions created the first sample of what they called a “rapidly reproductive adaptive fungi” (RRAF) it resembled something a lot like flesh or muscle, and was able to grow on dirt, sand, stone, wood, and metal. It was unknown how it would adapt to the earth, but some controlled tests showed results that seemed the RRAF could create fluctuating trees made of a bone-like material with leaves with the texture of skin that was capable of photosynthesis. Over time the bone-like material could start to grow a protective layer of thick skin, again similar to a human’s, like tree bark. Soon it would be tested to see how they could implemented into things such as vehicles. They began to created a variant of RRAF that would be less of a fungi and more of an insect. It was a large leap, but soon after some 9 years it was accomplished. Large centipede-like creatures with hollow insides layered with skin would replace the extremely weathered transit system. And with these 9 years passing RRAF had been exposed to uncontrolled environment, and had replaced many of the lost forests and agricultural needs.
With these extreme advancements, RRAF was used to replace limbs, teeth, and even organs at times. They were an entirely foreign entity that somehow managed to coexist with the human body and not have the immune system see it as an outside threat and attack it. This was due mostly to RRAF’s genetic code being based heavily upon that of the human DNA structure and RNA>mRNA>tRNA code system. This, also meant that RRAF was also adaptable to humans. But however, at the time could only be attached or injected through open wounds. In 2088 however, this changed. RRAF cells were becoming able to attach to human skin cells as humans were constantly exposed to an RRAF based organism, and would essentially replace said skin cells and become cancer cells. They acted as a totally different organism though, and would essentially take over the human body slowly, keeping both organisms alive but using the human body to its own needs and wants.
The FES government has ordered all their labs and research facilities to freeze all research and development on RRAF to find out what is going on and how to combat it.
